Green is out for the season after breaking a bone in his left foot in Saturday's exhibition game, the Seattle Times reports.
ANALYSIS
This hurts Seattle's defensive depth. Green wasn't going to start, but he figured to get plenty of playing time. And he was an insurance policy for Ken Hamlin, who is returning from a fractured skull.

Green, who made 17 tackles last season, isn't likely to make this year's roster. If he does it will be as backup DB/special teams player.
Green missed all of 2006 after breaking a bone in his left foot in preseason. He'll add depth to the secondary and see most of his time in nickel and dime sets.
Acquired in an offseason trade from Chicago, Green will compete for the starting strong safety job. More likely, he will provide secondary depth. If Ken Hamlin can't return from a fractured skull, though, Green will step in.
After starting all 16 games for the Bears last season at strong safety, Green will become the team's starting free safety this year. Green, who proved to be a playmaker in 2004 with two interceptions and four fumble recoveries, should get more opportunities to intercept passes this year, though his tackle total will likely drop. He could be someone to watch from a fantasy standpoint.
The other strong safety in a Lovie Smith-designed defense is Adam Archuleta, and Mike Green fits the same statistical mold. Last season was an injury plagued and inconsistent 10-game campaign for Green. In 2002, however, Green was Archuleta, Jr., with 95 solo tackles, a sack, no interceptions, a forced fumble and five passes defended. With just one interception and 4.5 sacks in his career, Green is the sort of run-support safety who thrives in Smith's aggressive speed defense. With a healthy groin, Green is a player to know.
