Oher (concussion) was released with a failed physical designation by the Panthers on Thursday, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports.
ANALYSIS
Oher missed the Panthers' last 13 games of the 2016 season under the league's concussion protocol, and the issues have lingered into the offseason. The Panthers signed former Viking Matt Kalil to start at left tackle in 2017, while Oher will look to get back to full health before potentially catching on with another team.

Projected starter at left tackle for the Panthers this season.
Oher should prove to be a valuable commodity at right tackle for the Titans after signing a four-year $20 million deal with the team in March.
Oher will start at right tackle, but he could switch over to the blindside if Bryant McKinnie struggles.
Although the movie about Oher's life was called "Blindside", he is expected to work as Baltimore's starting right tackle again in 2012. If something goes wrong with Bryant McKinnie at left tackle, then Oher will slide over to that side.
With Jared Gaither gone, Oher is the unchallenged starter at left tackle. He has all the talent in the world. Whether he has the necessary mean streak and motor to be an elite lineman remains to be seen.
Oher is expected to take over the starting left tackle spot, bumping Jared Gaither to the right side. He'll be the lynchpin in what should be a very solid Ravens offensive line.
Taken 23rd overall in the 2009 NFL Draft, Oher is no doubt physically ready to contribute in his rookie season. Of course he'll need seasoning before he plays a regular role on the Ravens' offensive line, but Oher is expected to become a fixture in the future at either right or left tackle opposite Jared Gaither.
