Hall (back) was placed on injured reserve Friday.
ANALYSIS
Hall suffered a back injury during Oakland's Week 11 win over the Cardinals, the severity of which will ultimately require him to spend the rest of the season on injured reserve. The 33-year-old had been a key piece of the Raiders' defense all season, and his absence should bring an uptick in snaps for Rashaan Melvin and Nick Nelson in nickel and dime packages.

Veteran corner, should see time both in the slot and on the outside. Likely a backup to Janoris Jenkins and Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie.
A second career ruptured Achilles' tendon ended Hall's 2013 campaign after just five games. In fact, the 29-year-old has missed 20 contests over the past three seasons, evidencing durability issues. With that in mind, the Bengals selected cornerback Darqueze Dennard in the first round of this year's draft. While Hall's experience should allow him ample playing time, both Dennard and third-year pro Dre Kirkpatrick could eventually force him into a more complementary role. As such, Hall's fantasy value is on the decline.
Hall, who registered 38 tackles (24 solo), two interceptions, and one touchdown last season, will occupy one of the Bengals' starting cornerback positions this season.
Hall is coming off a season that was ended short after just nine games due to a torn Achilles' tendon. After a quick rehab, Hall will continue to be the Bengals' starting right cornerback this season, where he has excelled over the course of his career. Assuming his health will fully return, expect Hall to intercept a moderate amount of passes and provide solid tackling numbers, as he looks to return to being one of the NFL's best cornerbacks.
Hall has developed nicely in tandem with fellow cornerback Jonathan Joseph, starting all 16 games last season after starting 10 in his rookie season. The drop in interceptions from five to three is less a reflection in his abilities but more a case that he was challenged less frequently. All three of his interceptions came in one game last year, Week 16 against the woeful Browns' offense. He's a decent tackler for a corner - he won't give you Antoine Winfield numbers in that department, but he won't hurt you either.
Hall had a solid rookie season in 2007. He made 60 tackles and five interceptions in 16 games (10 starts). He averaged 5.6 tackles per game over Cincinnati's last eight contests (all starts), putting him on pace for 90 tackles over the course of a full season. Hall is a well-rounded cornerback with a lot of upside. The 23-year-old has a chance to crack the top 10 at his position this season, his second in the NFL. He is a hard hitter that should grow into an outstanding tackler. Hall lacks elite speed and stands only 5-11, so he can have trouble with fast, tall receivers.
Part of the Bengals' defensive overhaul, much will be expected of Hall, their first-round pick. Just keep in mind that there's usually a pretty steep learning curve for defensive backs.
