Kyle Van Noy

33-Year-Old LinebackerLB
Baltimore Ravens
2024 Fantasy Outlook
Van Noy enjoyed a career year in Baltimore with 9.0 sacks in 2023 to go with two forced fumbles. This earned the veteran journeyman a two-year contract to remain with the team. At 33-years-old, Van Noy is not an every-down player, but his effort last season showed that he still has significant juice off the edge as a situational pass rusher. Baltimore has a deep corps of young pass rushers to eat up plenty of snaps, but Van Noy will still be an important piece off the edge in 2024. Read Past Outlooks

Heading into his ninth season in the NFL, Van Noy signed a one-year contract with the Chargers after coming off of yet another productive season for New England where he recorded 66 tackles, one interception, two forced fumbles and a career-high 10 passes defensed. The 31-year-old figures to serve as a busy utility piece for Los Angeles who can line up both on and off the line of scrimmage, allowing the Chargers to incorporate more dynamic packages with Joey Bosa and Khalil Mack. Whether Van Noy gets a starting role has yet to be determined, but expect him to be a heavy contributor regardless, especially in the run game.
A significant free-agent addition for the Dolphins just last offseason, Van Noy found himself without a job in March as the team attempted to become cap compliant. He subsequently returned to New England, where he averaged 73.7 tackles and 5.2 sacks per season between 2017 and 2019. Van Noy is slated will work in tandem with offseason addition Matthew Judon at outside linebacker.
Coming off another solid campaign in New England, having notched a career-high 6.5 sacks, Van Noy now reunites with coach Brian Flores in Miami. Flores spent 14 years with the Patriots before taking over Miami's lead position in 2019, a span which allowed Van Noy and him to work together for multiple campaigns. The 29-year-old stands to operate as one of Miami's starting outside linebackers in 2019, putting him in a favorable position to garner fantasy upside in deep IDP formats.
In his third season with the Patriots, Van Noy turned in his best IDP performance to date, finishing up the 2018 regular season with a team-high 92 tackles, to go along with 3.5 sacks and an interception in 16 games. The 28-year-old, who is in the last year of his deal with the Patriots, thus retains fantasy utility in deeper formats, given that he's slated to remain a key cog in the team's linebacking corps.
Van Noy piled up 73 tackles and 5.5 sacks in 13 games last season, numbers that made him a player of interest in deeper IDP formats. He's now set to reprise his starting linebacker role in 2018, joined in that capacity by Dont'a Hightower and Elandon Roberts.
Van Noy was a second-round selection by the Lions in 2014, but injuries led to a lack of preparation prior to the season and a little playing time on Sundays. With another offseason under whis belt, he’ll likely enter camp battling Josh Bynes for a starting spot alongside Stephen Tulloch and DeAndre Levy in the Lions linebacking corps, but his 26 sacks in four college seasons shows his ability to wreak havoc in the backfield when given the opportunity.
The Lions liked Van Noy coming out of college a lot, but he'll likely have a lot of work to do in order to make a splash on their defense this year.

Officially back with Ravens
LBBaltimore Ravens
April 4, 2024
Van Noy, who recorded a career-high 9.0 sacks in 2023 with the Ravens, re-signed with Baltimore on a two-year deal Thursday, ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
According to ESPN's Jamison Hensley, Van Noy's contract is worth up to $9 million. Van Noy's pass-rushing acumen is even more valued after the team allowed Jadeveon Clowney, who had 9.5 sacks for the Ravens in a resurgent 2023, to head into the open market this offseason.
