Excised from Jags' practice squad
The Jaguars released Vedvik from their practice squad Wednesday, independent NFL journalist Aaron Wilson reports.
ANALYSIS
Jacksonville signed linebacker Aaron Patrick to take Vedvik's spot on the practice squad. The organization's decision to move on from Vedvik implies confidence in the health and abilities of the two specialists on the 53-man roster, kicker Josh Lambo and punter Logan Cooke.

2019 Fantasy Outlook
Vedvik is just one component to a long-running list of promising kicking prospects to go through Baltimore during the John Harbaugh era -- of course Justin Tucker and Vedvik, but also current starting NFL kickers Will Lutz, Graham Gano and Stephen Hauschka. The 25-year-old, Norwegian-born Vedvik went 12-for-13 on field-goal tries in six career exhibition outings for the Ravens, but missed both of his tries in his Aug. 24 debut for the Vikings. Coach Mike Zimmer has made his frustrations evident regarding the team's woeful kicking results over recent seasons, but Vedvik is believed to be a potential solution. He also has garnered consideration as an option at punter, where he would compete with incumbent Matt Wile.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Trying to latch on with 49ers
Vedvik worked out for the 49ers on Wednesday, NFL reporter Aaron Wilson reports.
ANALYSIS
Vedvik last appeared for an NFL team in 2019, attempting one field goal and one extra point in that season. He's since spent time on several teams' practice squads and was also drafted by the CFL's Saskatchewan Roughriders in 2021. If he were to latch on with the 49ers, Vedvik would likely represent little more than token camp competition for veteran kicker Robbie Gould.
