Lambo announced his retirement from the NFL on Friday, Adam Stites from Jagswire reports.
ANALYSIS
Lambo signed with the Chargers as an undrafted free agent in 2015, following a short stint with FC Dallas in the MLS League. He spent two years with the Chargers, followed by five seasons with the Jaguars, where he hit 76 out of 83 field goals over that time. He played one game with the Titans in 2022, filling in for kicker Randy Bullock before being waived in November. Lambo amassed 530 total points in eight seasons, going 128-for-147 (87.1 percent) on field goals and 146-for-163 (89.7 percent) on extra points.

Hip injuries limited Lambo to four games last season, and he technically made it four years in a row converting better than 90 percent of his field goals. The Jags still have Aldrick Rosas on their roster, but he shouldn't be much of a problem if Lambo is indeed healthy. While the Jags may be a year or two away from playoff contention, the offense finally has some upside now that Trevor Lawrence is in town.
Lambo has quietly established himself as a premier kicker, ripping off three consecutive seasons with a FG conversion rate higher than 90 percent. He also played for the NFL's second-worst red-zone offense in 2019, thus ranking fifth in FGAs and 30th in PATs. That disparity isn't sustainable, but there is hope for an improved offense, and Lambo is a good bet to take advantage of whatever chances he gets.
Lambo has missed three field goals and three PATs in 23 games for Jacksonville, leading to a four-year extension in February. The deal gives him job security to match his results, but it wasn't so long ago the Chargers pushed him out the door in favor of Younghoe Koo. The path to fantasy relevance in Jacksonville involves a dominant defense, as the offense under Nick Foles will be no better than mediocre.
Mediocre the previous two seasons, Lambo lost his job with the Chargers in September but redeemed himself with the Jaguars the final 10 weeks of the year. He averaged 1.9 FGs and 2.2 PATs per game in Jacksonville, then capped things off with a perfect run in the playoffs, including four field goals from at least 40 yards out. The Jaguars don't have a great offense, but their defense should help set up opportunities.
Lambo's 46 PAT attempts ranked sixth, but he was just 22nd in accuracy (91.3 percent). He was also not that effective on field-goal tries, ranking 24th with the same rate as in 2015. His struggles mostly came from deep, as five of his six misses were from at least 40 yards, including all three tries from 50-plus. The latter number is the most surprising after he went four of five from that distance in 2015. The Chargers have plenty of offensive weapons and Philip Rivers at quarterback, but they probably won't give Lambo too many more scoring chances than last year. He just needs to be more accurate.
The Chargers' offense took a step back last season, and while the kicking game actually made up a higher percentage of their total points scored, it still ranked just 21st league-wide. Lambo's 32 field-goal attempts tied him with four other kickers for eighth most in the NFL, but his conversion rate was the second lowest of anyone in that group. He particularly struggled from 40-49 yards, missing five of his 16 attempts from that distance, and his four unsuccessful PATs gave him the third-worst accuracy in that category. The Chargers' offense will have to improve for Lambo's fantasy value to increase, as his accuracy is just not good enough to rely upon if it doesn't.
Lambo, an undrafted rookie out of Texas A&M, beat out Nick Novak in the Chargers' preseason kicking battle and will handle kicking duties for a team that should score plenty of points this season.

Allegation against Meyer surfaces
KFree Agent
December 15, 2021
Lambo, who was released by the Jaguars on Oct. 19, alleges that Jacksonville head coach Urban Meyer kicked him during warmups prior to a practice before the team's final preseason game against the Cowboys, Michael DiRocco of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The veteran kicker's allegations, which Meyer has denied through his agent, were originally detailed in the Tampa Bay Times. Lambo asserts that Meyer kicked him in the leg while urging him in profane fashion to be more accurate on his kicks. Lambo responded with a profane statement of his own in which he implored Meyer to never kick him again, and the first-year NFL coach allegedly provided a retort in which he stated he was entitled to such actions since he was Lambo's immediate boss. The issue was ultimately referred to the team's legal counsel through Lambo's agent, and the 31-year-old was released nearly two months after the alleged incident.
