The past couple seasons were oddly quiet for Norman, who came to Washington with a reputation as a big-play gambler with a brash personality. He hasn't quite been the dominant force the team was hoping for when it signed him to a five-year, $75 contract, but he's at least been good enough to avoid negative attention, finishing 2018 with three interceptions and three forced fumbles. While he may not be a dominant cover man, the 31-year-old cornerback doesn't have any glaring holes in his game and remains a crucial part of the Washington defense. Norman will look to make it five straight years with at least 56 tackles and multiple forced fumbles.
Contrary to popular opinion, Norman hasn't been asked to consistently shadow a team's No. 1 receiver in Washington, and he's even been exposed by some of the league's top athletes in recent seasons, starting with Odell Beckham and A.J. Green. It's consequently not a stretch to say he isn't living up to his status of being the league's highest-paid cornerback. However, there's no denying that Norman has handled a heavy workload for the Redskins over the past two seasons, nor that he can make quick work out of any non-elite wideout that may come his way. This has seemingly prevented quarterbacks from passing in Norman's direction very often, which played a role in him failing to log a single interception in 2017. With that said, he's averaging 65.5 tackles per season in the nation's capital and recorded at least two picks in each of the past three seasons, so we don't expect him to lay a goose egg in that category for a second consecutive season.
After making a name for himself in Carolina, Norman's first season in the nation's capital was relatively quiet. His 67 tackles, 19 passes defensed, three interceptions and two forced fumbles were eerily similar to his numbers from his breakout 2015 campaign. However, the first handful of games last season Norman did not shadow the opposing team's best receiver, something that he is fully expected to do in 2017. No matter where he is on the field, Norman consistently manages to make plays and there's no reason to believe that trend will change this season.
Norman projects as a true shutdown corner in defensive coordinator Joe Barry’s Cover-3 defense and joins a pass defense sporting the likes of Ryan Kerrigan, Junior Gallette and Preston Smith on the front end as well as Bashaud Breeland, DeAngelo Hall and David Bruton in the secondary. In 2015, Norman amassed 56 total tackles, 18 passes defensed, three forced fumbles and four interceptions, where two of which went for touchdowns. However, Norman may be hard-pressed to replicate those numbers he posted in Carolina that saw him finish as the 19th-ranked fantasy defensive back in standard IDP scoring, particularly in the touchdown and forced fumble categories, and his decision to take a side gig as a television analyst can only affect his focus and productivity in a negative way. Norman will need a lot of things to break right to once again post top-20 fantasy numbers at his position in 2016.
After an impressive rookie season and subsequent sophomore slump, Norman resurfaced as a more consistent figure last year. In totaling 48 tackles and two interceptions, Norman started 10 of his 14 games played and is expected to occupy a starting cornerback position once again this season.
Following a 12-start rookie year, Norman appeared in just seven games last season, making zero starts. He'll compete for playing time this season, likely serving as a reserve at cornerback while featuring on special teams.
Norman was really thrown into the action after Chris Gamble was placed on IR with a shoulder injury following Week 7. The rookie started 12 games for the Panthers and held up fairly well, likely solidifying him as at least the team's third cornerback next season.
Will provide depth in the defensive backfield.

Possible fit for Buffalo?
CBFree Agent
February 18, 2020
Norman may be interested in a reunion with Bills head coach Sean McDermott, who served as defensive coordinator for the Panthers while the cornerback was with the team, Marcel Louis-Jacques of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Released by Washington last week, the 32-year-old cornerback should have multiple suitors in free agency, despite dealing with injuries and a benching in 2019. Norman never quite lived up to his hefty contract in Washington, but he was a 16-game starter as recently as 2018, when he piled up 64 tackles, nine pass defenses, three interceptions and three forced fumbles. His playmaking ability could allow for a transition to safety if NFL teams don't think Norman can hold up in outside coverage anymore, though the Bills likely would want Norman to play his accustomed position. They already have an impressive safety duo in Micah Hyde and Jordan Poyer, while starting cornerback Levi Wallace is recovering from shoulder surgery and was arguably the weak link in the secondary last year.
