Bynes was waived by the Ravens on Friday, Field Yates of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Bynes began the season as a significant part of the Ravens' linebacker corps, even recording 10 tackles in Week 3 against New England. However, he's been a healthy scratch since the team acquired Roquan Smith and became expendable as a result. Bynes will be subject to waivers and will be free to sign with any team if he goes unclaimed.

Slated to start at Mike linebacker in the Cardinals' new 4-3 defense, Bynes is also expected to come off the field on obvious passing downs. If he's indeed capped to a two-down role, it's difficult to foresee a significant tackle count, but he's proved capable of racking them up in the past. In 2015, he parlayed 78 percent of the Lions' defensive snaps into 82 tackles. He also accumulated 17 tackles between Weeks 12 and 13 last season, but Deone Bucannon, Bynes' anticipated replacement in nickel formations this season, only played five snaps on defense in that two-game span. As a result, Bynes may be hard-pressed to surpass his career high in stops from three seasons ago.
Bynes has been dual-trained at both middle and outside linebacker during training camp, and has even worked with the starting unit as the weakside OLB. However, with DeAndre Levy returning from injury, Tahir Whitehead manning the middle and Kyle Van Noy securing the other outside linebacker role, Bynes will likely be relegated to a depth role in 2016 and is unlikely to warrant IDP consideration.
Bynes will serve as Detroit's backup weak-side linebacker in 2015. With DeAndre Levy dealing with a hip injury to start the season, Bynes is likely to fill in on the starting defense.
Bynes opened last season as a starter at inside linebacker, but he's a one-dimensional run stopper, and is now left fourth or fifth on the depth chart at a suddenly crowded position.
Bynes started three games last season, and may have a shot at a starting inside linebacker spot in 2013. He's not one of the favorites to win a starting job, but did perform reasonably well against the run last season. He's very questionable in pass coverage, which means he will likely be used as a two-down player at the Mike inside linebacker spot.
An undrafted rookie out of Auburn, don't expect anything fantasy-wise out of Bynes even if he does make the final roster.
