The Falcons dropped Thomas from the roster Sunday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Thomas hasn't seen NFL action since 2020 with the Cardinals and Patriots, and after spending all of 2023 on the Panthers' practice squad, he signed with the Falcons on Aug. 1. He caught his lone pass for six yards in Atlanta's preseason opener against Miami on Aug. 9, but didn't do much else beyond that. The 2018 sixth-round pick will now look to catch on with another team.

Thomas suffered a cracked rib during the preseason that kept him off the field until the second half of the 2019 campaign. Coming off a four-touchdown effort as a rookie, he was in line for productive season, but the injury limited him to five games and one catch during the regular season. Thomas played minimally in the Texans' two postseason contests and returns to a crowded position group that also includes Darren Fells, Jordan Akins and Kahale Warring. Houston ran a lot of 12 personnel (one RB, two TE) last season, but changes at wide receiver could mean a roster that carries only three tight ends.
