2024 Fantasy Outlook
Howden was thrown into the fire almost immediately during his 2023 rookie campaign, playing at least 95 percent of the defensive snaps in seven of his 16 appearances while filling in across New Orleans' banged-up secondary. Tyrann Mathieu is a lock to start at free safety for New Orleans, but the team also moved on from veteran strong safety Marcus Maye in the offseason. Howden should contend for the other top safety spot next to Mathieu this year. Read Past Outlooks
Steps forward in second season
In 17 games in 2024, Howden recorded 50 tackles (27 solo) and two interceptions.
ANALYSIS
Howden played almost the same number of defensive snaps in 2024 (526) as he did in his rookie season in 2023 (540), but this year he had more tackles and two picks to show for it. He was still firmly behind Tyrann Mathieu and Will Harris in the pecking order for playing time, but with the latter in line to become an unrestricted free agent during the offseason, Howden might end up competing for more reps in 2025.

Audric Estime got off to a strong start this past Sunday and pushed Javonte Williams aside, leading the Denver backfield in snaps and carries by a comfortable margin.
2023 Fantasy Outlook
Howden has an opportunity to play a significant role from Day 1 with the Saints. The rookie fifth-round pick was very productive while starting 49 games over five collegiate seasons, and he has the versatility to play either safety spot, making him a prime candidate to take over a prominent rotational role ahead of Jonathan Abram, J.T. Gray and Smoke Monday.
