Reed was waived Tuesday, and he's currently dealing with an undisclosed injury. Whatever the nature of that issue, Reed is now set to miss the entire 2023 season, unless he can reach an injury settlement.

Reed was drafted by the Chargers in the fifth-round of the 2020 NFL Draft, but he's failed to see much playing time during his stint in Los Angeles. Primarily the team's kick returner when healthy, Reed is expected to face heavy competition for the role from newcomer DeAndre Carter who signed with the Chargers this offseason and who is also a more well-rounded receiver at this juncture in their respective careers.

Coach Anthony Lynn said Monday that Reed reminds him of Percy Harvin, Gilbert Manzano of the LA Daily News reports.
ANALYSIS
The 22-year-old was a fifth-round pick in April's draft and has been taking reps at both receiver and running back in camp. Reed primarily worked as a wide receiver and kick return specialist in college, finishing his UVA career with 129 receptions, 106 kick returns and only 34 carries. There could be an opportunity for Reed in 2020, especially considering the Chargers appear desperate for depth behind Keenan Allen and Mike Williams (shoulder).
