The Lions have signed Collins to a one-year contract, the Detroit News reports.
ANALYSIS
The report notes that the last time the Lions' offense routinely used a fullback (Jerome Felton) was back in 2010. This coming season, look for Collins to earn most of his work as a lead blocker for the likes of Reggie Bush and Joique Bell.

Collins’ best season of his career came with the Saints in 2013 when he handled the rock 15 times for 45 yards and a touchdown and provided another 54 yards on the receiving end with 14 grabs. He spent 2014 as member of the Lions, but saw little of the ball, receiving 13 touches total in 16 games. Given the de-emphasis of the fullback position in the current football landscape, he isn't likely to see much action in the Cowboys’ offense this season.
Collins projects to be the starting fullback for the Lions. His primary job will be to open running lanes for Reggie Bush and Joique Bell.
Collins, who scored four touchdowns in 2011, finished the 2012 season with 14 catches for 70 yards and two touchdowns. He did not receive a carry all year. While he may yet steal a few scores as the Saints' starting fullback, he holds little value for fantasy purposes given his infrequent touches.
Last year, Collins vultured four touchdowns, all from short range, despite seeing a mere 15 touches on the season. While he is expected to start at fullback again for the Saints, Collins is merely a torn in the side of fantasy owners of other Saint offenses weapons, and is not ownable himself in almost all formats given his lack of consistent usage.
Collins will split time at fullback with Korey Hall.
Collins was a tight end in his college days, but transitioned to fullback in the NFL and bounced from team to team in his rookie season. He’ll compete for a backup job in Kansas City, but you’ll rarely hear his name on Sundays.

In 16 games, Collins gained a mere four yards on four carries. As a receiver, he had a bit more success, recording eleven catches for 50 yards. Most importantly (or frustratingly depending on how many Saints players you owned), Collins scored four total touchdowns, all from short range.
