2024 Fantasy Outlook
The Patriots took Polk with the 37th pick in the 2024 NFL Draft to give third overall pick Drake Maye a young receiving option. Polk spent one season at Texas Tech and three at Washington, with a 69-1,159-9 receiving line in 2023 accounting for about half of his career production. The late breakout was aided by fellow 2024 draft pick Jalen McMillan (third round) struggling with injuries last season, as both McMillan and Rome Odunze outproduced Polk by wide margins in 2022. On the other hand, Polk's 2023 was genuinely impressive, with his strong hands and regular contested catches standing out. At 6-1 203, Polk has the size to play outside in the NFL, though a 4.52 40 suggests he's unlikely to be a top deep threat even if the contested-catch skills translate. He and fourth-round pick Javon Baker should get the chance to earn playing time early on, joining a Patriots WR room in which every veteran had fewer than 600 yards last year. Read Past Outlooks

Shifts to IR
Polk (shoulder) was placed on injured reserve Saturday, Chris Mason of The Springfield Republican reports.
ANALYSIS
Polk had already been ruled out Friday, so the transaction is just meant to help the team sign a player to the active roster for the final game of the season. The 2024 second-round pick was a dramatic disappointment given the wide receivers taken after the rookie, as Polk finished with just 12 receptions for 87 yards and two touchdowns despite playing 15 games and 412 offensive snaps during those contests. The Patriots are expected to aggressively add to their wide receiver room, and it wouldn't be a surprise to see Polk way down the pass-catching hierarchy entering the 2025 campaign.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Opportunity to become WR1
Chad Graff of The Athletic relays that Polk will see heavy reps with the first-team offense during training camp, giving the rookie wideout a good chance at establishing himself as the top pass catcher for the Patriots.
ANALYSIS
Polk was the 10th wide receiver taken in the 2024 NFL Draft, with the Patriots drafting the Washington product in the second round, 37th overall. Graff notes that Polk's college coaches raved about his large catch radius, reliable hands -- particularly in crucial situations like third downs -- and his blocking ability. With fellow wideout Kendrick Bourne continuing to work his way back from an ACL tear, Polk will have a prime opportunity to establish chemistry during training camp with quarterbacks Jacoby Brissett and Drake Maye and cement himself as New England's top pass catcher to begin the season.
