The fatal cardiac arrest suffered by Adams on Sunday was the result of an enlarged heart, the Chicago Tribune reports.

Adams, who's sophomore season was practically a mirror image of his rookie year, will enter the 2009 season as the team's leading pass rusher as he had 6.5 sacks in 2008. The Buccaneers will look for Adams to improve on that total in 2009 and he may just have the opportunity to do that as the team is switching to a more aggressive defensive scheme in 2009.

Adams is Tampa Bay's right defensive end of the future, with Simeon Rice's contract expiring after 2007. If Rice is ineffective or hurt to start the season, Adams could make that future start early.
