The Texans had a couple of productive defense tackles in 2023 but opted to move on from Sheldon Rankins and Maliek Collins. To help shore up the middle, Houston signed Fatukasi, a run stopper who played for Jacksonville last season and spent time with the Jets under current Texans defensive coordinator Matt Burke. On one hand, Fatukasi didn't register a sack last season, and the Jets already are paying big money to Carl Lawson, Quinnen Williams and John Franklin-Myers on the defensive line. On the other, Fatukasi grades out as one of the league's best run defenders, and a New York defense that ranked among the worst in the league at defending the run last season can ill afford to lose one of its few bright spots in that regard.
