ANALYSIS
Tapp will see his tenure with the Bucs end after five weeks with the squad. He only played during the previous three weeks and tallied two tackles during that span. He was let go in order to make room for rookie defensive end Pat O'Connor, as the team appears to be looking toward the future.

In the wake of Hau'oli Kikaha's season-ending knee injury, the Saints signed the 31-year-old Tapp to provide veteran depth on the defensive line. Tapp appeared in 16 games as a reserve for the Lions last year, managing 26 tackles and two sacks. Entering his 11th season, however, Tapp has not recorded more than three sacks in a season since 2008, and even if he is able to secure the Saints' starting defensive end position opposite Cameron Jordan, Tapp has limited appeal in most fantasy leagues.
Though he has failed to record multiple sacks in a season since 2011, Tapp impressed during training camp, even spending time on the starting defensive line while Jason Jones recovered from injuries. He'll be featured in the Lions' defensive end rotation in 2015.

Backup linebacker.
Tapp figures to stick around Philadelphia for the final year of his contract, but the reserve pass rusher will see a limited snap count.
Will rotate at defensive end.
Tapp gets a fresh start this season after being traded to the Eagles, where he’s expected to serve as a bookend to Trent Cole. Undersized for an every-down DE, Tapp is a high-motor player who should fit well in Philly’s blitz-heavy scheme — especially with Cole on the other side to draw extra blockers. Tapp shared time at defensive end in Seattle, but when he played regularly he performed.
Tapp doesn’t possess ideal size for a defensive end (6-1, 270), but he plays with a relentless motor. Last year he had to share time early in the season with first-round pick Lawrence Jackson, and it wasn’t until Patrick Kerney’s season ended with a shoulder injury that Tapp took off. Tapp didn’t record a sack until Week 9, Kerney’s first week out of action, and then finished with 5.5. Seattle signed Colin Cole and Cory Redding to fortify the DT spots, which should help free up the DEs, but with Kerney healthy, Tapp might have to split time with Jackson again. On the positive side, Tapp has increased his tackles every year, finishing with 55 last season.
Tapp is still a raw talent, just two years out of college. He made seven sacks in 2007, four of which came in one game before a broken hand helped limit him to just 1.5 sacks in the final nine games. His 49 tackles were distributed fairly evenly throughout the season, though. Tapp added three forced fumbles and an interception. He'll face competition this season from firstround pick Lawrence Jackson for the starting job. Jackson is bigger than the undersized Tapp (6-1, 270) and could play on running downs, leaving Tapp to be used as a situational pass rusher. In that case, Tapp's tackles likely would decrease, though he could see a bump in sacks.
Tapp provides defensive line depth. He'll be in the line rotation, but don't expect much more.
The Seahawks' 2006 second-round draft pick, Tapp had 18.5 sacks in last two seasons at Virginia Tech. Don't expect much playing time to start with, but his development should be fun to watch.
