The Broncos recently reached out to Wake, but no agreement was reached, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Wake was released by the Titans during the offseason but has consistently maintained he is not ready to retire. Meanwhile, the Broncos have lost Von Miller (ankle) as well as depth along their defensive line, putting them in a position to seek pass rushers. However, with no deal reached, Wake will remain a free agent.

Wake was a big free-agent acquisition for the Titans this offseason as the 37-year-old inked a 3-year $23 million deal with the team. A member of the Dolphins for the previous 10 seasons, Wake has totaled 98 sacks in his career, though he is coming off a career-worst mark of six last season. Clearly on the downturn of his career, Wake likely won't ever repeat his 15-sack campaign of 2012, but he adds a veteran pass-rush presence to the team, supplementing the likes of Harold Landry and Kamalei Correa.
Wake's performance last year serves as a convincing argument that the 36-year-old defensive end still has fuel in the tank. He led the Dolphins in sacks last year with 10.5 (15th in the NFL), and has played two consecutive full seasons since going down with an Achilles' injury in 2015. Wake brings high-floor production to a talented Miami front seven which also includes Robert Quinn and 2017 first-round pick Charles Harris.
Not much was expected of Wake last season after coming off an Achilles tendon tear but he proved the doubters wrong by playing in all 16 games and recording 11.5 sacks. He will once again be expected to provide the Dolphins with a consistent threat off the edge and free up room for Ndamukong Suh to wreak havoc up the middle. Wake may be 35 years of age but another 10-plus sack season should not be out of the question.
Wake missed nine games last season after tearing his Achilles tendon. He is expected to be fully recovered before training camp, and the Dolphins have shown how much they believe in his recovery by signing him to a two-year contract this May. If Wake can rush the passer like he has in the past, then the Dolphins' defense could be the strength of the team, and another double-digit sack season would not be out of the question.
Age is closing in on Wake, who turned 33 in January, but he's still poised to be one of the league's more productive pass rushers in 2015. He surpassed double-digit sacks for the third time in five years last season, even on a modest 756 snaps, and should see significantly fewer double-teams this season with the arrival of DT Ndamukong Suh. While Wake should be among the league leaders in sacks, he likely won't offer many tackles, as he has fallen short of 40 stops each of the last two years.
Wake's tackle potential appears modest at best – he had just 37 tackles in 2013 and only exceeded 42 tackles twice in the last four years – and his tackle opportunities probably won't increase as long as Miami feels pressure to get 2013 third overall pick Dion Jordan onto the field. The good news is that Wake is one of the league's elite pass rushers. He posted 8.5 sacks in 2013 even though he only played roughly 60 percent of Miami's snaps, but he should play more in 2014 now that he's over a knee injury that limited him for roughly a month of the 2013 season.
Wake is one of the absolute best at getting to the quarterback, even if his tackle totals are modest. The explosive edge rusher posted a career-high 15 sacks last year, firmly putting to rest the idea that his 8.5 sacks from 2011 made him a one-year wonder after a 14-sack 2010 season. But over the last three years he has averaged 50 tackles, leaving his value almost entirely dependent on his sacks. He could also stand to improve his consistency, as his 15 sacks from last year were spread out over just nine games. Keep an eye on his position designation as the season approaches because Miami has the personnel to run a 3-4 if it wants, though as of press time the team’s site lists Wake as an end.
After serving as one of the league's best pass rushers despite playing on an extremely cheap contract for the Dolphins the last three years, Wake finally got the raise he deserved after proving he was no product of the CFL. Wake was originally scheduled to get $615,000 in 2012, but Miami signed him to a four-year, $49 million extension in May. Totaling 22.5 sacks in two years will get you that sort of raise. Wake's value could even get a boost as the Dolphins transition into a 4-3 defense, even aside from the inherent increase in value that comes with gaining defensive line eligibility. Defensive tackles Randy Starks and Jared Odrick should do a good job of convincing opposing offensive lines to send their resources inward rather than to the outside where Wake makes his living. He will certainly see plenty of double teams, but it would nonetheless be a surprise if Wake fell short of the double-digit sack mark after posting 8.5 in a dysfunctional 2011 arrangement.
People were impressed with the unheralded Wake when he posted a modest 5.5 sacks in 2009, his first season out of the CFL. So last year’s dominant, 14-sack showing was more than a little surprising. Wake enters 2011 with expectations immeasurably higher than what they were a year or two ago, and he’ll have to prove he can keep producing now that the bull’s-eye is on him. But it’s tough to bet against someone who’s come as far as Wake has, so he should remain a good target in leagues that value double-digit sack production.
Wake's value to your fantasy team will be as a pass rush specialist as playing the run is not his forte. The Dolphins also realize this and Wake may only find himself in the game during passing situations.
The addition of Jason Taylor pushes Wake towards more of a Special Teams player for the Dolphins.

Could land in New York?
LBFree Agent
April 2, 2020
The Giants could pursue Wake as a free agent if Marcus Golden doesn't re-sign with the team, Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Wake has stated that he intends to continue his career during the 2020 season, and he could make sense as a situational pass-rusher for the Giants. The 38-year-old was held to nine games with the Titans in 2019 due to a hamstring injury, but he managed to notch 2.5 sacks in limited action. It remains to be seen, of course, whether Golden will ultimately return to New York.
