Marshall signed with the Ravens' practice squad Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
The Ravens have three running backs they're willing to deploy in Mark Ingram, Gus Edwards and Justice Hill, so Marshall's being kept around in case of injury. Marshall hasn't played since the 2018 season with the Redskins when he suited up six games and rushed just three times for nine yards.

With 43 touches for 267 yards in seven NFL games, Marshall entered training camp competing with Kapri Bibbs for the possibility of a single roster spot. Both running backs saw their odds improve when Derrius Guice suffered a torn ACL, though Rob Kelley, Adrian Peterson and Samaje Perine are more likely to benefit in terms of drawing carries. Marshall and Bibbs are hoping to provide passing-down insurance for Chris Thompson, who is working his way back from last year's ugly leg injury.
Marshall came off the practice squad to make his pro debut in Week 15 of last season after injuries ravaged the Eagles' backfield corps. Over the final three games of the season, he totaled 64 rushing yards in 19 attempts to go with three catches for 10 more yards. Since then, Philadelphia drafted Donnel Pumphrey and signed LeGarrette Blount, dropping Marshall further down the depth chart and prompting the Eagles to cross-train him as a wide receiver, where his prospects for playing time are even more muddled. Marshall isn't without credentials as a wideout, however. The former Oregon Duck was the first player in Pac-12 history to record separate 1,000-yard seasons both as a rusher and receiver. It's this versatility that presents Marshall's greatest hope for a roster spot in 2017, but he'll likely only see the field if injuries strike a number of players on the Eagles' offense once again.
