While Arizona head coach Ken Whisenhunt says that St. Pierre technically has a chance to unseat Matt Leinart as the Cardinals’ No. 2 quarterback this summer, we’ll be shocked if that happens. St. Pierre will turn 30 in November and he has thrown just one regular-season pass in the NFL. He’s likely to serve as Arizona’s third-string quarterback this year behind Kurt Warner (Arizona’s QB of the present) and Leinart (Arizona’s QB of the future).
At best, St. Pierre will serve as Arizona's third-string quarterback in 2008.
The Steelers and St. Pierre have a history together, with Pittsburgh cutting and re-signing the Boston College product on numerous occasions. His presence gives the Steelers depth at the quarterback position but he won't play unless both Ben Roethlisberger and Charlie Batch get hurt.
St. Pierre could find his way into the Steelers' lineup in both Ben Roethlisberger and Charlie Batch get hurt at the same time. The Steelers would likely rely heavily on their running attack, minimizing any fantasy value St. Pierre might have.
St. Pierre is the quintessential safety valve for the Steelers. With each time he's waived and brought back, the three-year veteran learns a little bit more about the team's offense. If he ever does line up behind center, St. Pierre can thank his persistence for whatever time he does get.
With Ben Roethlisberger now on board in Pittsburgh, St. Pierre may have a tough time making the Steelers' roster in 2004.
St. Pierre will battle for a roster spot. At best, he will be the third quarterback on the depth chart and not be a fantasy factor this season. At worst, he will not make the squad and head to the Arena league or CFL for more seasoning.
