ANALYSIS
Walter was working to earn a depth role in the Raiders' backfield after joining the team on a reserve/future deal in January. The 26-year-old hasn't appeared in an NFL game since 2021 with the Jets, and now he'll likely have to wait a while longer. Unless he reaches an injury settlement with the team, Walter will be forced to miss the entirety of the 2023 campaign.

Walter was snagged by the 49ers after going undrafted in 2019. The Rice product had success as a runner, averaging 5.1 yards per carry over his four-year career, but his appeal to the 49ers likely resides in his return abilities (21.8 yards per kickoff return). There is little chance Walter makes the 53-man roster on a team stacked with talent at the position, but he has a chance to stick around on the practice squad.
