2024 Fantasy Outlook
Winston was stuck as the back up in New Orleans the last couple years, but he impressed as the starter in 2021 -- 14/3 TD/INT -- before tearing an ACL in Week 8. He could be back in a starting role this season after signing a one-year deal with the Browns in March. Deshaun Watson is recovering from shoulder surgery, and while he’s reportedly made steady progress, there’s a chance he’s not ready for Week 1. Assuming Winston beats out fellow free-agent acquisition Tyler Huntley, he’ll have a solid group of playmakers to exploit. The Browns added Jerry Jeudy this offseason to form an excellent WR trio with Amari Cooper and Elijah Moore, in addition to tight end Davis Njoku and running back Nick Chubb (though Chubb is coming off a knee injury). At 30, Winston probably isn’t as mobile as he once was, but he should still add some rushing upside. Read Past Outlooks

Starting job in danger
Coach Kevin Stefanski said after Sunday's 21-7 loss to the Chiefs that he'll make a decision later on the Browns' starting quarterback after the Browns benched Winston in the fourth quarter in favor of Dorian Thompson-Robinson, Daniel Oyefusi of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Prior to yielding QB duties to Thompson-Robinson midway through the final quarter, Winston completed 16 of 25 passes for 146 yards, no touchdowns and three interceptions, was sacked five times for a combined loss of 37 yards and had two carries for minus-2 yards. On the Browns' only score, Winston handed the ball off to Jerome Ford, who did the rest of the work on a 62-yard TD. Thompson-Robinson didn't fare better than Winston on his two possessions: 4-for-9 passing for 18 yards and a pick and three rushes for 16 yards. It's unclear when Stefanski may make a call between the two ahead of next Sunday's game at Cincinnati, but Winston seems to be in danger of getting benched, at least in the short term.

Winston once seemed like a long-term option at quarterback for the Saints after spending one year as the understudy to Drew Brees. But Winston battled back fractures early last season, leading him to lose the starting job to Andy Dalton after Week 3 for the remainder of the campaign. With Derek Carr signed to a four-year, $150 million contract this offseason, Winston's time in New Orleans looked to be over before he agreed to a restructured contract in March. As a result, the 29-year-old Winston will enter the 2023 season as a backup alongside dual-threat veteran Taysom Hill and rookie fourth-rounder Jake Haener.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Remaining starter for now
Winston will be the Browns' starting quarterback in Week 15 against Kansas City, Chris Easterling of the Akron Beacon Journal reports.
ANALYSIS
Cleveland was officially eliminated from playoff contention with Sunday's loss to Pittsburgh, but for now coach Kevin Stefanski is sticking with Winston under center. "We're just going to continue to do everything we can to play better," Stefanski said Monday. "Obviously, I think we can play better on offense. Certainly as a team we can play better, but really the focus is making sure that we put our guys in position to find a way to win." The veteran QB is a free agent in the offseason and unlikely to return to the Browns, however, so if at some point the team turns its focus to 2025, a younger option like Dorian Thompson-Robinson could get a look.
