Knee - ACL
February 22, 2023
Lewan (knee) announced Wednesday via his personal Twitter account that he's been released by the Titans.
ANALYSIS
Lewan, a three-time Pro Bowler, becomes a free agent after his age-31 season was cut short by an ACL tear of his right knee suffered back in Week 2. The 11th overall pick of the 2011 NFL Draft, Lewan has struggled to consistently remain on the field in recent years, having played just five games in 2020 and 13 contests in 2021. Lewan's market as a free agent could heavily depend on teams' confidence in his rehab process thus far.

Lewan returned to the field in 2021 after his 2020 campaign was ended prematurely by a torn ACL. However, he was still hampered by a number of injuries which limited him to 13 games and held back his performance even when he was able to take the field. So long as proves to be healthy, Lewan should be locked into the starting left tackle job in Tennessee in 2022.
Lewan's five-year contract extension worth $80 million includes a record-breaking $50 million in guarantees, as the Titans locked in their franchise left tackle this offseason.
Lewan will start at left tackle.
The 2014 first-rounder will provide Tennessee with a depth option at both left and right tackle.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Expected to retire
OTFree Agent
August 6, 2023
Titans insider Paul Kuharsky believes Lewan will announce his retirement sometime in August.
ANALYSIS
Lewan was released by the Titans in February after playing for Tennessee from 2014-22. The 32-year-old offensive lineman had his 2022 campaign cut short by a torn ACL and is currently far below his NFL playing weight, which is why Kuharsky believes Lewan will be retiring soon.
