Wants to return to Pittsburgh
Bell is interested in returning to the NFL for the 2024 season and indicated the Steelers are the only team he would be willing to play for, ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Bell said he intends to start training for a potential comeback in March, adding, "If I hit April and I make this decision to come back to play in the NFL again, mark my words down -- I will be better than I ever was." The soon-to-be 32-year-old hasn't suited up for NFL action since 2021, and his last season cracking 1,000 rushing yards was back in 2017 with the Steelers. Pittsburgh looks set atop the RB depth chart with both Najee Harris and Jaylen Warren still under contract, and it's unclear how much, if anything, Bell truly has left in the tank, but if the veteran is open to a modest, team-friendly deal, a reunion with coach Mike Tomlin might not be out of the question.

After a disappointing first season with the Jets, Bell lasted only two games (sandwiched around a three-game absence due to a hamstring strain) for the team in 2020 before being cut loose as the club purged salary and committed to yet another rebuild. He quickly latched on with the defending champs, but his time in Kansas City was only marginally more productive than his stint in New York, as he mainly worked behind rookie Clyde Edwards-Helaire. At his peak, Bell relied on uncanny vision and patience behind a consistently fearsome Steelers offensive line, but injuries and a massive workload have eroded his physical talent, and Bell can't quite hit those holes as quickly as he used to. He still offers some utility on passing downs, and that could be the area where he provides his most immediate utility to the Ravens, who plan to elevate him from their practice squad ahead of Week 1. With J.K. Dobbins and Justice Hill both lost for the season due to knee and Achilles injuries, respectively, the Ravens lack an established pass-catching back, and the opportunity could exist for Bell to become more of a factor as a ballcarrier than expected, too. Gus Edwards suffered a non-contact knee injury in a Sept. 9 practice and appears likely to miss extended time, potentially leaving Bell as the next man up for carries behind 2020 undrafted free agent Ty'Son Williams, who has yet to log a regular-season snap.

Eyeing comeback
Bell indicated on social media Friday that he plans on returning to the NFL, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
The running back last played in 2021, suiting up for eight games between the Ravens and Buccaneers, and he'll turn 32 years old later this month, so Bell would have to prove he still has something left in the tank to draw much interest. He also subsequently suggested he'd only want to play for the Steelers, the team that drafted him in 2013, but Pittsburgh's backfield seems set with Najee Harris and Jaylen Warren. If Bell is serious about his comeback, he may not have the luxury of being that picky.
