The Ravens released Rainey on Monday, Jeff Zrebiec of The Baltimore Sun reports.
ANALYSIS
Rainey's release opens up a roster spot for the addition of offensive lineman Andrew Donnal, formerly of the Rams. Furthermore, it could be a sign that wide receiver Michael Campanaro (shoulder) is ready to resume his return duties on special teams. The move could also hint that Danny Woodhead (knee), who has been designated to return from IR, could be back in the fold within a matter of weeks.

His film and production alone make him a good bet to go in the first round, but a disappointing Combine pushed Dalvin Cook back a couple spots in the rookie RB rankings.
The quarterback rankings are a potential quagmire again, with many of the top options facing great defenses and/or weather concerns.
Bye weeks are over, and in many cases the playoffs are starting. Will Mike Evans bounce back this week with a nice home matchup against the Saints?

The 29-year-old Rainey has appeared in 61 regular-season games for three teams, most recently serving as an occasional passing-down back for the Giants in 2016. He was still unsigned in late July when the Ravens learned that Kenneth Dixon likely would miss the entire season with a knee injury. Baltimore brought Rainey in to compete with Javorius Allen and Taquan Mizzell for the No. 3 spot on the depth chart behind Terrance West and Danny Woodhead.
