Jon Kitna: Comes out of Retirement to QB Cowboys
Kitna, who came out of retirement this week to be the Cowboys' emergency third quarterback, said he will donate his $53,000 salary to the high school where he teaches math and coaches football, the Dallas Morning News reports.
ANALYSIS
Kitna said he heard about Tony Romo's back problem and texted Cowboys coach Jason Garrett on Tuesday morning, announcing his availability. The Cowboys signed him shortly thereafter, sight unseen, because of his familiarity with the offense. Kitna started nine games for an injured Romo in 2010. If Romo is unable to start Sunday, Kitna will back up Kyle Orton. Kitna, who played 15 seasons in the NFL before retiring in 2011, coached the Lincoln Abes in Tacoma, Wash., to an 8-2 record this season.

Kitna kept the Cowboys' ship from completely sinking after Tony Romo got hurt, but he doesn't have the arm strength to stretch the field and scare defenses any more. Dallas fans have their fingers crossed that Kitna doesn't see a snap in 2011.
