A 2011 third-round pick, Casey spent his first nine seasons in Tennessee, averaging 54.8 tackles, 12.8 QB hits and 5.7 sacks while playing 139 of a possible 144 games (including 137 starts). He then signed with the Broncos last offseason but suffered a season-ending torn biceps in Week 3. A free agent again this year, Casey is option for retirement at age 31.

Traded from the Titans to the Broncos this offseason, Casey arrives to Denver as one of the league's most established interior defensive linemen. Even at age 30, Casey should be Denver's best defender in the front three. For IDP purposes it's worth knowing that Casey has never produced fewer than 44 tackles in a season, and the last time he produced fewer than five sacks was back in 2012. Since that season Casey has tended to produce around a 60-tackle, seven-sack sort of 16-game baseline. Perhaps his responsibilities will be different in Denver, but Casey has always thrived in the box score despite substantial gap containment responsibilities in the past.
Outside of a blip in 2016 when injury limited him to 725 snaps, Casey has been a bankable DL2 going back to his breakout 2013 season in which he posted 55 tackles and 10 sacks. Casey is more of a 60-tackle, seven-sack kind of player nowadays, and Tennessee's extremely run-heavy offense could cap his upside somewhat further, but his skill set is still fully accounted for. He needed only 746 snaps to surpass 60 tackles last year, yet Casey played more than 825 snaps in four of the five prior years.
Three Pro Bowl selections in the past three seasons help illustrate the respect Casey has garnered over the course of his career. A mainstay on the Titans' defensive line since 2011, Casey is fresh off a 60-tackle, six-sack season -- which was right in line with his previous career averages of 54.5 tackles and 5.5 sacks. This consistency makes him more valuable in real life than fantasy, however, as Casey has never finished as a top-15 defensive lineman in standard IDP scoring throughout his seven-year career.
Playing through a foot injury in the final month of last season limited his final box score, but when healthy, Casey is usually one of the league's most productive interior linemen. Even last year, his 44 tackles and five sacks were not bad for just 725 snaps -- that rate of production projects to about 51 tackles and six sacks over the 826 snaps he played in 2015. Like most interior linemen, he does not have a high ceiling, but he can still be a useful IDP, as he averaged 59 tackles and 7.5 sacks per season from 2013 to 2015.
Casey's upside is likely limited by a role that resembles that of an interior defensive tackle more than a true defensive end, but he's established himself as one of the league's better players in such a role. He's surpassed 50 tackles in all of his five NFL seasons, logging one double-digit sack season in that span and demonstrating good DL2 utility. Casey should produce in 2016 similarly to how he has in recent years, and if the Marcus Mariota offense takes off, there may be more sack opportunities if opposing offenses need to throw more often.
Casey has become one of the league's top linemen in recent years, and 2014 marked his second straight standout IDP effort. Averaging 61.5 tackles, 12.5 tackles for loss and eight sacks the last two years, Casey is clearly a disruptive presence who can make a dent on the stat sheet despite facing consistent double teams. Like other 3-4 ends, though, Casey's upside is limited because of the extra attention he receives while playing on the interior.
There's little doubt that Casey is among the top interior defensive linemen in the league. Stout and strong at 6-1, 305-pounds, blockers can't get under his pads, and he has the ability to drive into the backfield once he anchors at the point of attack. After consecutive 50-tackle seasons to start his career, Casey progressed into peak form during his third year in 2013, finishing with 10.5 sacks and 55 tackles. Tennessee's switch to the 3-4 has his exact role in question, but coordinator Ray Horton is among the league's most creative. He knows Casey should rarely leave the field.
Casey enters the season as one of the Titans premier run stoppers at defensive tackle. He'll look to build on his 54 total tackles and 3.0 sacks from 2012 as the Titans season unfolds.
Casey did a solid job as a rookie, contributing 52 tackles (39 solo), 2.5 sacks and a forced fumble in 16 games (15 starts) after the Titans selected him in the third round out of USC. He is far from a pass-rushing demon, however, and as a DT the odds are generally against Casey making an especially big impact in 2012. He could improve on his numbers, though, since former starting tackle Jason Jones left in free agency, which could leave more snaps for Casey and allow him to push for 60 tackles.

ANALYSIS
Denver won't carry any dead money if Casey is cut before his contract is fully guaranteed for 2021. The veteran defensive lineman only appeared in three games in 2020 before suffering a season-ending biceps injury, but he never played less than 14 games in nine previous career campaigns. Unless he's willing to negotiate a restructured deal, the 30-year-old could be forced to look for another team after just one year in Denver.
