Reed was released by the Colts on Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Reed hadn't shown much as a wide receiver, but did have some decent performances as a kick returner (he averaged 28.8 yards per return last week). Lavon Brazill becomes the clear No. 3 receiver with Reed's release.

Reed tore an ACL late in the 2011 season and missed most of 2012 as a result. The Ravens still opted to bring him back on a contract that included some guaranteed money, which indicates that the team values him more than his statistics (or lack thereof) would seem to justify. Reed has just five career receptions, all of which came last season, but he's shown flashes of fantastic athleticism, including the change-of-direction skills that are so important for a slot receiver. Tandon Doss is viewed in many corners as the favorite to win playing time behind Torrey Smith and Jacoby Jones, but wise fantasy owners shouldn't sleep on Reed or Deonte Thompson.
Reed's 2011 campaign ended early thanks to a torn ACL and he may start 2012 on the PUP list. He's proven to be an excellent kick returner, but he fumbled twice in one game last season and the Ravens decided to go with a safer option. If Reed sees the field this year it will probably be as a return man and/or fifth receiver. He's not guaranteed to make the team, and it would certainly help his chances if the Ravens don't find a suitable kickoff return man during the preseason.
Reed is near the bottom of the Ravens' wide receiver depth chart, which makes his roster spot this season questionable.
Reed is a young receiver very much in the mold of Derrick Mason. Though undersized he has incredible toughness, and could factor into the return game with Lardarius Webb coming off an ACL tear. He may move into the fourth receiver slot should Mark Clayton or Demetrius Williams leave town.
