Takes step back
Woodyard recorded 42 tackles, one sack, three tackles for loss, one interception and one forced fumble across 15 games with the Titans in 2019.
ANALYSIS
After leading the team in tackles for the past two seasons, Woodyard saw a reduced role in 2019. He was on the field for over half of the team's defensive snaps in just four of 15 games, working primarily as a backup inside linebacker. Woodyard will enter the offseason as an unrestricted free agent, and given his decreased role with the team it would not be a surprise if he were to find a new home for the 2020 campaign and beyond.

In a league often dominated by young superstars, Woodyard has defied that narrative and posted two of the best seasons of his career in 2017 and 2018. The 2019 season will mark his age 33 seasons and he'll enter it as 12-year veteran, yet he's shown few signs of slowing down after leading the Titans in tackles with 124 and 113 respectively across the last two seasons. This season, he may be pushed a bit more for playing time with the potential emergence of two young inside linebackers -- Rashaan Evans (a 2018 first-round pick) as well as Jayon Brown. While he's still likely to lead the linebacker corps, Woodyard may not repeat his gaudy tackle numbers of seasons past.
