ANALYSIS
Meriweather was released by the Giants last week, but the team decided to bring him back after fellow safety Cooper Taylor suffered a concussion in Sunday's loss to the Panthers. Meriweather started 11 games this season, but it remains to be seen if he will do so in either Week 16 or 17.

Heads into 2014 as the Redskins starting strong safety. He played in 13 games in 2013 and proved he's recovered from a severe knee injury that limited him to one game in 2012.
Expected to start at safety in 2013 after missing all but one game in 2012 with a knee injury.
The former pro bowler struggled in 2011 with the Bears. With the Redskins he will be asked to play his more natural strong safety position. The team his hoping he will return to form which would include about 80 tackles and a couple of interceptions.
Meriweather is trying re-establishing his role in the Patriots' secondary after an inconsistent 2010 season that saw him record just 68 tackles. When he is on, the two-time Pro-Bowler can help out those in IDP formats with his tackling and ball-hawking upside.
Meriweather recorded 83 tackles for a second straight season and added five interceptions, earning Pro Bowl honors for the Patriots. He has good ball-hawking skills (nine INTs the last two years) and is a sure tackler. After moving into a full-time starting role last season, Meriweather is a good bet to put up similar numbers this season.
Meriweather finished the 2008 season with 83 tackles (second on the Patriots), two sacks, two forced fumbles and four interceptions. It's official, hard-hitting Rodney Harrison has called it a career, so it's up to Meriweather, James Sanders and draftee Patrick Chung to lead the way at safety for the Pats. From an IDP standpoint though, we like Meriweather's chances of racking up the most stats in the New England secondary, as he is likely to receive the most consistent playing time of any of the safeties.
Entering his second season with the Patriots, Meriweather is poised to see a larger role in the team's defense. He could push James Sanders for a starting slot alongside Rodney Harrison, but at the very least he'll be an important part of the safety rotation.
Entering the draft, Meriweather had perceived character issues, but New England is a good spot for him to land with the type of players/coaches that will surround him. He's a talented and versatile player, who excels in coverage. His addition is a nice boost to a secondary that has been crying for depth the past couple of seasons.
