Rest-of-Season Projections
Floyd suffered a concussion during Sunday's loss to the Broncos, Tom Krasovic of the San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
ANALYSIS
This was an unfortunate reminder of why Floyd decided that Sunday's game would be his last. He's still capable of contributing as a blocker and big-play threat, but his history of head and neck issues was already a major concern. It's unclear what San Diego's receiving corps will look like in 2016, as the only sure thing is that Keenan Allen (kidney) will be the No. 1 wideout. Stevie Johnson (groin) and Dontrelle Inman are also under contract, whereas tight ends Antonio Gates and Ladarius Green can both become unrestricted free agents. The Chargers may search for an external solution to replace Floyd in the No. 2 wideout role, as neither Johnson nor Inman was particularly impressive this season.

It's hard to say what was a bigger surprise, Odell Beckham Jr. topping 1,300 yards in 12 games as a rookie or Floyd staying healthy all season. Prior to last year, Floyd hadn't played 16 games in a season since 2009, the only time he did so since entering the league in 2004. And Floyd hasn't just missed a game or two here and there with nagging injuries; he missed 25 games from 2010-13 and a whopping 70 over his 11-year career. The 6-5, 225-pound Floyd ran a 4.55 40 more than a decade ago at the Combine, but he'll turn 34 in September, so he's relying mostly on his size, route running and long-term rapport with Philip Rivers these days. That worked for him last year as he posted 16.5 YPC and 9.3 YPT on 92 targets and scored six times despite seeing only 11 red-zone looks. This year Floyd should reprise his role as the team's No. 2 receiver opposite Keenan Allen, with new arrival Stevie Johnson siphoning off some targets from the slot. But the key for Floyd is simply to stay healthy — he's usually productive when that's the case.
