Mike Gillislee

Gillislee's outlook with the Patriots has changed quite a bit since last spring when he was signed to replace LeGarrette Blount as the team's "big back." His projected assignment appeared to carry a degree of TD-upside with it, but after a strong start, things fizzled out for Gillislee in 2017 to the point that he ended up spending a good chunk of the season as a healthy inactive. At this stage, he's simply fighting for a roster spot behind roster locks Sony Michel, Rex Burkhead and James White. Brandon Bolden, Jeremy Hill and undrafted free agent Ralph Webb represent Gillislee's competition on that front and it may take an injury for him to stick around. Though his YPC regressed last season to 3.7, Gillislee did show a nose for the end zone en route to logging a 5.7 mark over his two season with Buffalo, in 2015 and 2016. It's going to take a break for the 27-year-old to re-emerge on the fantasy radar and that break may end up coming in the form of a change of scenery. That change of scenery came in the form of the Patriots leaving him off their 53-man roster in early September. Gillislee quickly landed a one-year contract with the Saints where he'll provide depth behind Alvin Kamara, Mark Ingram (suspension) and Boston Scott.
