ANALYSIS
Ryan will bring an end to his playing days after 11 seasons in the NFL and two Super Bowl championships during his time with the Patriots. After leaving New England as a free agent in 2017, Ryan inked with Tennessee where he earned the distinction of catching Tom Brady's last pass as a member of the Patriots, a game-sealing pick-six to secure the Titans a wild-card round victory during the 2019 season. Ryan also suited up for the Giants, Buccaneers and 49ers.

Ryan was a good corner before he changed positions and became an arguably great safety, and now he heads to Tampa Bay to form potentially the league’s best safety duo with Antoine Winfield. The main concern with Ryan is the fact that the Tampa run defense is better than the Titans or Giants ones where he posted his biggest numbers, though more leads and a better pass rush should increase his INT chances.
Formerly one of the NFL's more time-tested slot corners, Ryan rebranded as a safety for the Giants to promising effect. Ryan played a three-down role last season in what was the best Giants defense in years, so that three-down role should remain intact in 2021. Ryan is an effective blitzer who's picked up a knack for forcing fumbles the last two seasons, and it's in the backfield where he's likely to supplement his tackle production the most. The talented Giants defense has the freedom to call exotic blitzes, and Ryan should be one of the main tools for those functions.
The 2018 season was Ryan's second with the Titans and he shifted to playing the majority of his snaps in the slot. While he didn't intercept any passes for the second-straight season, he did find his form as a pass-rusher off the edge, racking up four sacks after combining for only 2.5 across his first five seasons. He'll likely continue to serve as the team's slot corner in 2019, with Adoree' Jackson and Malcolm Butler flanking him to the outside.
Ryan took over as the Titans' top cornerback in 2017 after leading his position in tackles (92) during his 2016 season with New England. The Rutgers product wasn't nearly as productive during his first in Tennessee, though, racking up 62 tackles, 11 pass breakups and zero interceptions in 15 games. However, the team went out and signed Malcolm Butler to a five-year, $61 million contract in free agency this offseason -- which could cause quarterbacks to throw Ryan's way more often in 2018. A return to the top-30 scoring defensive backs isn't out of the question.
Ryan signed a three-year, $30 million deal this offseason after spending his first four seasons with New England. He worked both outside and in the slot in 2016, leading all cornerbacks in tackles with 92. With the injury-plagued Jason McCourty no longer in the fold, Ryan is the clear-cut top option among an underwhelming group of corners that also features veteran Brice McCain and rookie first-rounder Adoree' Jackson.
Heading into the 2015 season, a major question facing the Patriots was how the team would replace starting cornerbacks Darrelle Revis and Brandon Browner. The answer ended up being pretty straightforward, as Ryan and Malcolm Butler ended up leading the Patriots' defense in playing time. In the process, Ryan racked up 74 tackles and four picks in 16 games, numbers that put New England's starting right cornerback on the IDP radar.
Following an offseason in which the Patriots parted ways with their top three cornerbacks (Darrelle Revis, Brandon Browner and Kyle Arrington) from their championship season -- Ryan and Malcolm Butler enter training camp as the favorites to earn starting jobs. In his second NFL season, Ryan -- a 2013 third-rounder -- recorded 42 tackles and two picks in 16 games in 2014, including six starts.
Slots in as a depth cornerback, though Ryan -- who recorded 35 tackles and five picks last season -- could see added work early on while Brandon Browner serves a four-game suspension.
Ryan is a quick cornerback who shows a good amount of physicality and he could be a playmaker if the Patriots provide him with a strong pass rush. For now, he slots in as a reserve but he could see an expanded role as a rookie if Alfonzo Dennard is forced to miss time.

ANALYSIS
Ryan remained unsigned after entering free agency at the close of the 2022 season. He'll begin his tenure in San Francisco as a backup, but he could step into a more significant role due to the absence of Talanoa Hufanga, who suffered a torn ACL in Week 11. Ryan recorded 37 tackles and one interception among his three pass breakups across nine games last year.
