Richardson hopes to find a home in Pittsburgh after bouncing between the Jets, Texans and Browns last season. Despite not seeing action in a regular season game since 2013, he will likely compete with Fitzgerald Toussaint for a roster spot behind Le'Veon Bell and DeAngelo Williams, but offers little in terms of fantasy value.
Richardson will look to latch onto a new team after being released by the Jets on September 5. He is a good candidate to add depth to a team that lacks quality options at running back.
Richardson has racked up 167 carries for 690 rushing yards and 38 catches in his first two years in the NFL, yet is still awaiting his first career touchdown.
A seventh-round pick last year, Richardson stole 98 carries from the prolific Steven Jackson, caught 24 balls and produced 638 total yards. Entering his second season, the elusive outside rusher will compete with last year's second-round pick Isaiah Pead and bulky rookie Zac Stacy. At 5-10, 196, Richardson has excellent speed and more experience than the little-used Pead, so he's got a good chance to win the starting job in camp. And Pead's one-game suspension for violating the NFL’s substance abuse policy only boosts Richardson’s stock.
We expect Richardson to outlast Chase Reynolds and earn the No. 3 running back job behind starter Steven Jackson and sure No. 2 Isaiah Pead.
