Hughes played in just five games last season, but that was enough for the Browns to extend him a four-year contract extension this past March. It remains to be seen if he'll lock down a starting role, but at the very least, the three-year veteran should be in the defensive line rotation.

Hughes will provide the Browns with defensive line depth in 2014.

Hughes will compete with fellow second-year player Billy Winn and free agent signee Desmond Bryant for the starting defensive end position. Hughes recorded 34 tackles and three sacks as a rookie.

Hughes was a surprise selection in the third round of April's draft, but with the pectoral injury to starting tackle Phil Taylor it turned out to be a prophetic move. Hughes isn't the class of player Taylor is, but he's a solid run-stuffer who should see significant action in his rookie season. Big sack and tackle totals should not be anticipated, however.
