ANALYSIS
Johnson's 2019 season ended early due to injuries to both ankles, but he appears to be healthy now and will look to earn a spot on the active roster in the near future. Over seven games with the Jets last year, Johnson averaged 45.9 snaps per contest and recorded 25 tackles, two pass breakups and an interception.

Johnson's coming off an underwhelming, injury-plagued campaign in what was the first season of a five-year, $72.5 million contract with the Jets. The veteran cornerback is hoping better health and a coaching staff overhaul will help him rebound, and Johnson has still averaged more than 50 tackles and three interceptions per season over his seven-year career.
Johnson parlayed his excellent play with the Rams over the past few seasons into a big payday from the Jets this offseason. The 28-year-old cornerback joins New York on a five-year, $72.5 million deal after totaling 10 interceptions and 42 passes defended in the past three years while averaging 64.3 tackles per campaign during that span. While Johnson will be going from one of the league's best pass-rushing teams to one of the worst, the NFL's top-rated cornerback in press coverage for 2017 has the skills to overcome that downgrade as the leading figure in a young and talented secondary.
After hauling in seven interceptions and racking up 71 tackles (58 solo) in 2015, Johnson only intercepted one pass and recorded just 57 tackles last year. He's emerged as a one of the better cover corners in the league, so despite being shopped in the offseason, the NFL's highest-paid conerback is expected to suit up for Los Angeles again this season. Fellow cornerback E.J. Gaines is an inferior talent, so considering the clear drop off, opposing offenses could choose to pick on Gaines' side of the field. It limits Johnson's fantasy upside, so rebounding to his 2015 level of production is probably a stretch. Still, Johnson is a serviceable option for virtual teams.
The Rams effectively decided to keep Trumaine Johnson over fellow CB Janoris Jenkins during the offseason, and for good reason, too, as Johnson has emerged as one of the better cover corners across the entire league. At 26, Johnson is still in his prime and is coming off a top-15 finish in IDP scoring amongst defensive backs. However, without Jenkins manning the other side of the field anymore, Johnson could see less action in 2016 than he has in the past as opposing quarterbacks target the Rams' less-proven cornerbacks.
After an injury took him out of the first half of the season, Johnson was relegated to nickel duty with the emergence of E.J. Gaines. With Gaines out for the season, Johnson will re-assume starting duties after tallying three interceptions in 2014 to go with 36 tackles.
Johnson had a decent fantasy year with the Rams in 2013, intercepting three passes and picking up 68 tackles. However, the Rams' back four struggled overall with both the run and the pass, and St. Louis is hoping Johnson continues to improve in his third season.
Johnson picked up 31 tackles and a pair of interceptions as a nickel back in 2012. He will assume the same role in 2013, and should put up similar numbers.
Johnson will compete with fellow rookie Janoris Jenkins and veteran Bradley Fletcher for the No. 2 cornerback job. It's likely Johnson will end up as the club's nickelback, especially if the club converts Fletcher to a safety.
