The Bucs made sure to retain Smith as an exclusive-rights free agent this offseason after he totaled 13.5 sacks over his first pair of campaigns in a Tampa uniform. Smith has made a full recovery from offseason shoulder surgery as well and could certainly push incumbent left end William Gholston for the top spot on the depth chart. Even as a rotational end, Smith has provided solid IDP value over his first two seasons, as he's also generated 39 tackles, four forced fumbles, four fumble recoveries and three passes defensed in addition to the aforementioned quarterback takedowns.
A former Buffalo Bills' castoff, Smith will have an opportunity to start this season for the Bucs.
Smith will battle for a reserve role on the defensive line and a spot on the final roster.
Signed as an undrafted free agent, Smith will look to provide Miami with depth along their defensive line.
