Newton played in just one game for the Saints in 2018. The veteran has experience at both guard and tackle and has made 68 starts in the NFL, so he could draw plenty of interest from teams now that he's back on the open market.

Newton will be Houston's starter at right tackle.

Newton, who was the primary starter at right tackle during the 2012 season, enters this year coming off knee surgery. He has an inside edge to return as the starting right tackle, but the health of his knee and competition from rookie Brennan Williams will determine that.

Newton will be the team's back-up right tackle this season.

The Texans return all of their starters and prime backups from 2010, so Newton will have a hard time nailing down a roster spot. Perhaps he sticks as a practice squad player.
