The 27-year-old Carter has appeared in 35 career games with the Cowboys and Cardinals, accruing 29 tackles and one sack. Carter, a 6-foot-5, 300-pound nose tackle, will look to come away with a reserve role along the Bears’ defensive line in training camp, but shouldn’t be expected to see the field much if he’s able to secure a roster spot.

Enters the season as the backup to Dan Williams at nose tackle, and with an unimpressive 16 tackles and one sack in 2011, will likely remain in that role.

Carter, who will be making the transition from tackle to end in the NFL, will likely backup Dan Williams.
