Logan Paulsen

Paulsen's status as the projected No. 2 tight end for the Falcons can be attributed to his stellar abilities as a run blocker. The 31-year-old's skill set blends nicely with that of the team's primary receiving option at the position in Austin Hooper, as Atlanta can deploy a plethora of unpredictable offensive looks in two tight-end sets with both Logan and Hooper on the field. He's never exceeded 28 receptions in any of his seven professional seasons, but Paulsen has facilitated four 1,000-yard rushing campaigns since 2012, while his team's starting running backs have averaged over 1,240 yards per season during that span.

Paulsen was brought into camp to compete with younger, more-athletic tight ends. At first glance, he would appear to be at a disadvantage for a rebuilding San Francisco club, but that may not be the case. The 30-year-old's superb abilities as a blocker seem to fit well into Kyle Shanahan's scheme that saw him use tight ends more as extra lineman as opposed to downfield threats. While that bodes well for Paulsen's chances to make the cut this season, it won't translate to fantasy production outside of the occasional redzone target.

Primarily a blocking tight end, Paulsen suffered a season-ending toe injury during the preseason last year. Nonetheless, that didn't stop Washington from signing him to a one-year deal this offseason, so the career-long Redskin will compete with veterans Vernon Davis and Niles Paul for playing time behind starting tight end Jordan Reed.

Backup tight end, primarily used as a blocker and near the goal line. His 2015 season ended in August due to a toe injury.

Last season, Paulsen saw increased playing time with Jordan Reed limited to only nine games after suffering a concussion and Fred Davis in-and-out of the lineup after being benched. Still, Paulsen managed only 268 yards on a career-high 28 receptions. With Reed healthy and operating as Washington's top tight end reciving threat, Paulsen will likely serve primarily as a blocker.

Even when Fred Davis went down with a torn Achilles last season, Paulsen was utilized mainly as a blocker.

Paulsen filled in for the injured Fred Davis and Chris Cooley to start six games last season. He will return to his role as reserve tight end in 2012.
