Albert has officially been released by the Jaguars, Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
After abruptly announcing his retirement from football nearly two weeks ago, Albert recently had a change of heart. However, the Jaguars already had placed him on the "reserve/retired" list, which would have made a move back to the active roster somewhat complicated. Thus, they have opted to simply release the veteran.

A healthy Albert could be the key to the Dolphins offensive success this season. The offensive line has been a problem for the team over the past few years but if Albert can provide an anchor at left tackle and rookie Laremy Tunsil prove to be a mainstay on the OL than an area of concern could be one of strength very quickly.
The Miami Dolphins have a very positive outlook about the 2015 NFL season and part of that optimism is the return to health of Albert. The Dolphins offensive line has been in a state of flux the past few seasons and Albert was signed to a huge contract before last season so help remedy that problem. Well a knee injury cut short his 2014 season but Albert should be good to go for this season and will anchor the Dolphins OL.
Signing Albert was the Dolphins' most tangible response to fixing a troublesome offensive line. The team will look to him to stabilize this unit and not only open up holes for the running game, but to also keep quarterback Ryan Tannehill upright.
Albert will start at left tackle.
Albert will start at left tackle for the fifth consecutive season.
Albert is slated to start at left tackle in 2011.
The Chiefs' starting left tackle has started 29 of a possible 32 games since being drafted by Kansas City in 2008. He improved throughout the season in 2009, and the Chiefs are hoping he'll make a major step forward in year three.
Albert started 15 games at left tackle as a rookie, seamlessly making the transition from college guard to NFL tackle and establishing himself as one of the best young lineman in the league. He has furthered that reputation this offseason, reshaping his body by losing nearly 30 pounds and becoming a quiet leader both in the locker room and in the community. His Pro Bowl potential is quickly being realized.
Albert played guard at Virginia, but the Chiefs view his blend of size and athleticism as a perfect fit for the all-important left tackle position. The first-round pick is expected to start from Day One.
