Schmitt has actually played in all 13 games for the Raiders this season but has logged just two rushing attempts for one yard. Evidently, his play or relevance to the team no longer warranted a spot on the roster.

Marcel Reece will start at fullback for the Raiders, but Schmitt will have a chance to claim one of the final spots on the roster with a strong camp.

Schmitt is the incumbent fullback and has little in the way of competition this season. Running back Quinton Ganther also plays fullback, but even if he makes the team, Schmitt likely will continue to start. And if not, Schmitt will still entertain with his antics on special teams. Let's hope, though, he stops beating his forehead bloody with his helmet in pregame warmups. You're not in college anymore, Owen.

Schmitt plays with fan-friendly reckless abandon and that will be good enough to earn him a special teams job again. He'll also compete to be the starting battering ram at fullback.
