Rivers will provide depth at linebacker for the Cowboys after recording 16 tackles in 12 games for the Bills last season
Rivers was added as a free agent this off-season as a solid depth signing. He is unlikely to provide any impact for fantasy leagues this year but will be a key reserve on the field for Buffalo.
Rivers started six games for the Giants last season, but is expected to take a larger role as he enters the upcoming season as the team's starting strong side linebacker.
Should fill a reserve outside linebacker role, but the former first-round pick has upside should Michael Boley or Mathias Kiwanuka go down. Of course, that would entail Rivers finally staying healthy.
Rivers' 2008 season ended in Week 7 when the Steelers' Hines Ward broke his jaw with a vicious (but legal) block. Before Rivers suffered his season-ending jaw injury, he was among the team leaders in tackles (50) and also had an interception. He participated in OTA's and should be ready for training camp. He should be a pretty valuable IDP next season.
The Bengals picked Rivers with the ninth overall selection in the 2008 NFL Draft and he is expected to be inserted into the starting lineup immediately. He can play either inside or outside, so expect the versatile rookie to receive plenty of playing time.
