Maui'a signed with the Cardinals in August after Justin Green (knee) was placed on IR. He will compete for a roster spot as a backup fullback.

Parcells and his disciples like their fullbacks to be solid special teams contributors and good blockers, but they rarely play a featured role in the offense. As the starting fullback, expect Mauia to see a handful of touches per game--if that--and not to have much fantasy value, if any at all.

The Dolphins' release of offseason veteran acquisition Corey Schlesinger at the end of training camp speaks to their confidence in 2007 draftee Mauia. The former nose guard has the size to excel at the position but is still a raw talent. He'll also spend the first two to four games playing with a recovering broken left hand, but as a fullback in Cam Cameron's system, he'll spend most of his time opening holes for Ronnie Brown and Jesse Chatman and making the odd short-yardage carry and is not worth fantasy consideration at this point.
