Tanard Jackson

Suspended indefinitely for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy.

Jackson is suspended indefinitely from the league and his status heading into 2013 is uncertain. He is eligible to be re-instated but it requires action from the league.

Jackson has a chance to earn a starting role in Washington and has the talent to produce in that case. Of course, his history of disciplinary issues is a red flag – he was let go by Tampa Bay this offseason for that reason. But he totaled 71 tackles (60 solo) the last time he went into a year healthy and unsuspended and added five interceptions (returning two for touchdowns). Talent has never been an issue for Jackson – there’s some upside here if he gets and keeps the job.

Jackson, the team's former starting free safety, is still property of the Bucs, but it is unclear as to when he might ever play again due to multiple substance abuse suspensions by the league.

Jackson had 70 tackles, eight passes defensed, five interceptions (two returned for touchdowns) in only 12 games played in 2009 in 2010. If he can raise his game another level, he would definitely become a solid option in IDP leagues.

Jackson is a solid hard-hitting FS who has been a starter ever since entering the league as a rookie in 2007. 2009 could be a big year for Jackson as the Buccaneers are switching from the softer Tampa-2 coverage scheme to a more aggressive man-to-man defense. Expect Jackson's year-to-year upward increase in production to continue in 2009.

A cornerback in college, the Bucs will move Jackson, their fourth-round pick, to safety, where he'll have a chance to compete for a starting role.
