Bears general manager Jerry Angelo said the club will cut Hurd on Friday, Sean Jensen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

ANALYSIS
Hurd was arrested Wednesday night after trying to buy a kilogram of cocaine from an undercover federal agent. A former Dallas Cowboy, Hurd's first season as a Bear was dismal (eight catches for 109 yards in 12 games). His NFL career is entirely over.

Hurd will challenge for a few snaps every now and then, but Chicago brought him in to shore up one of the best special teams units in the league after the wide out led the Cowboys in special-teams tackles the past two seasons.

Hurd's spot on the roster is tenuous at best after the drafting Dez Bryant and just 31 catches in four seasons as a Cowboy.

Terrell Owens' departure opens up some room for the Cowboys' younger WRs but Hurd, who played in only three games last season due to a high ankle sprain and failed to catch a pass, has fallen well behind Miles Austin on the depth chart and won't see regular snaps without an impressive camp and an injury to someone ahead of him.

Depth WE caught 19 passes for 314 yards and a TD in '07, and could see a bigger role as the #3 WR if Terry Glenn doesn't return.

Depth WR and special teams player caught five passes in 2006.

Undrafted rookie free agent put himself in line for a roster spot with a great camp.
