Bunkley was released by the Saints on Tuesday, ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Bunkley was let go after failing his pre-camp physical. The defensive tackle had started 36 of the 38 games he appeared in the previous three seasons, never accruing any gaudy statistics but doing well to occupy offensive linemen. At 31 years old, Bunkley is on the downside of his career, but he still could get a look with another team.

Bunkley is expected to start at defensive tackle for the Saints, but after recording zero sacks and only 30 total tackles over his last two, injury-plagued seasons in New Orleans, he is expected to have little IDP value.
Bunkley will start at nose tackle for the Saints but will split time with Jonathan Jenkins. After managing only eight tackles in 13 games in 2013, Bunkley is not much of an IDP option.
Bunkley will likely start at nose tackle for the Saints but holds little fantasy value as he is primarily a run-stuffer.
Bunkley is coming off arguably the best season of his career, having recorded 33 tackles for a much improved Denver defense. Acquired in free agnecy this offseason, the Saints will pair him Sedrick Ellis to ideally form a pretty stout duo in the middle. Yet, from a fantasy standpoint, Bunkley offers very little other than tackles, having recorded only six total sacks in his six-year career, and none last year.
Bunkley was brought into Denver to help remake a defensive line that has really struggled to stop anyone the past few seasons. While he was somewhat of a disappointment in Philadelphia, Bunkley will be the starting nose tackle in Denver and will be heavily relied upon after Ty Warren's injury that will keep him out at least 12 weeks.

A former first round pick, 2006 was a lost year for Bunkley. The Eagles are counting on him to help solve a porous run defense, however, in 2007. He's penciled in as starter at right defensive tackle.
Bunkley is expected to be the foundation of the Eagles' defensive line down the road, and will contribute at least as a depth guy in the short-term.
