Chris Gocong

Gocong has bounced around between outside linebacker and defensive end-type roles since the Eagles drafted him out of Cal Poly in 2006, and this year he is expected to start at outside linebacker for Cleveland in the team’s new 4-3 scheme this year. He has the athleticism to make an impact, but the fact that last year’s 75-tackle season was a career high for Gocong means he’s no more than a consideration for deep-league owners. The team lacks depth at linebacker and for now it's his spot to lose.

Will be a fixture on special teams and should be a contributor on defense, although is unlikely to start right away as the Browns feel they have depth at that position. Still, he will get work both inside and out and could end up playing himself into a starting position if guys like Eric Barton or Matt Roth struggle early on.

Gocong is a starter at linebacker, but he typically leaves the field during passing situations.

After Dhani Jones' release, Gocong has been named the Eagles' starting strong side linebacker for 2007. He'll need to help shore up a run defense that was soft last season.
