Anderson (knee) has been released, according to BuffaloBills.com.
ANALYSIS
Anderson, who's been in the league since 2006, still probably has some football left in him, but there was really no specific fit for him in the Bills' new defense other than as a pass-rush specialist. It looks like the team will look to younger, healthier options as they try to rebuild quickly.

Anderson had been off the map since his 2006 rookie season, when he burst onto the NFL scene with 12 sacks. But he proved to be a much-needed addition for the Patriots last season, recording 10 sacks and raising his profile for free agency. The Bills snapped him up, where he's expected to start at defensive end opposite Mario Williams and will use his unique style of rushing the quarterback to create pressure. With the Bills being so strong elsewhere on the line and defensive coordinator Dave Wannstedt known for having productive linemen in his schemes, we see little reason Anderson can't chalk up 8-10 sacks before the year is out.

Anderson's production has come crashing back to earth after his 12-sack performance in his rookie year in 2006. He had just one sack and 18 tackles last season. He will factor into the Bears' rotation at defensive end, and could become an impact IDP if he can rediscover his nose for the quarterback.
After picking up 12.0 sacks in 2006, Anderson had a disappointing sophomore campaign with only 5.0 sacks. He dealt with some knee problems and the Bear's entire defense seemed to take a step back last season. It is unlikely for Anderson to return to his rookie form, but he should easy top the 5.0 sack total from 2007.
Anderson exploded on the scene as a rookie in 2006, racking up 12 sacks while only seeing part-time duty. The fifth-round pick from Alabama enters this season as a backup to Alex Brown but should receive just as many if not more snaps than the starter. Anderson is extremely quick coming off the end and has a knack for getting to the quarterback, meaning his sack total this year should be respectable once again.
Anderson, a fifth-round pick out of Alabama, is expected to be a backup defensive end in his rookie campaign. Anderson caused many turnovers during his college days and the Bears are expecting much of the same in the pros.
