Gado will not be as big a part of the running back rotation as he was in 2006. The signing of Ahman Green and the re-signing of Ron Dayne leaves Gado competing with second-year backs Wali Lundy and Chris Taylor and rookie Darius Walker for the final two spots.

Gado was the running back of last resort in 2005, getting the ball after Ahman Green, Najeh Davenport and seemingly dozens of others had been carted off the field with injuries or cast aside due to ineffectiveness. The undrafted rookie free agent did better than anyone could possibly have anticipated, but fumbling problems and the return of such luminaries as Tony Fisher put him back on the bench before he too blew out his knee. He’s penciled in as the Packers’ No. 2 back behind the rehabbing Green, so he’ll likely get some carries, but he’ll have to prove all over again that he belongs in the NFL.
