ANALYSIS
Atogwe has never seemed to live up to his potential and did not look good throughout training camp. The veteran could be looked at by teams exploring secondary depth, but is not a strong option for most teams.

Atogwe and the rest of the Washington defense figure to be on the field a lot in 2011, as the Redskins offense struggles. While LaRon Landry remains the better option between the two safeties due to his ability to pile up tackles, Atogwe will provide big-play and turnover ability in the Washington secondary. With 18 interceptions and 11 forced fumbles in his last four seasons, Atogwe should be up to the task again this year.
Set to be the club's starting free safety and one of the best IDP bets on the entire roster.
Atogwe made the leap to elite IDP performer in 2007 – his second season as a starter – by posting a credible tackle total (75) and an excellent nose for the ball (eight picks). He repeated that performance in 2008, besting his career-high in tackles with 82, adding another five interceptions and forcing six fumbles. The Rams made him their franchise player for the 2009 season, and he’s sure to be a favorite of new coach – and ex-Giants defensive boss – Steve Spagnuolo. A better pass rush will help with coverage, as well.
Atogwe, in his second year as a starter, put together a 75-tackle, eight-interception campaign in 2007. The big jump was in the picks department, where he almost tripled his 2006 output. It's hard to expect quite so many interceptions in 2008, but Atogwe offers an enticing mix of tackles, interceptions and youth. He’s a free safety with a solid nose for the ball on a team that makes enough mistakes to give him plenty of chances to make plays. Eighty tackles and a half-dozen interceptions are well within reach for Atogwe in 2008.
Solidified his position as the club's starting free safety with a 75 tackle, 10 passes defensed, three interception season in 2006.
One of the major surprises of the Rams' 2006 preseason. Atogwe will start the regular season as the club's starting FS.
O.J.`s a very bright kid and a good athlete. He could make an immediate impact on defense but is more likely to be a special teamer in Year 1.
